History

Alton was founded in 1990 as a wholly Australian owned and operated business, and has remained that way ever since.

We began this business to meet the growing need for short and long-term labour from companies working in highly competitive blue-collar industries – a market we’ve now been successfully serving for over 25 years.

Because we’re a local business and have been working in Melbourne for almost three decades, we understand the territory perfectly, and we continue to enjoy being a part of this community. Our relational style means clients speak face-to-face with real people who understand their requirements on a personal level, and we work together with you to find custom solutions that provide the best fit.

Our longest-standing client relationship is with BAE Systems Australia – beginning in 1996 and continuing to the present day.

Our largest project to date was working with BAE in Williamstown, where we provided our client with an average of 100 electrical personnel over a three-year period – meeting peak manning levels of 180 personnel and supporting BAE. We started on the ANZAC ship project commencing in 1996 then worked on the OPV ship project and also worked on the LHD ship project finishing that project in 2015.

With a solid history as a reliable business partner to our clients, over the years Alton has built a reputation for commitment to meeting our clients’ specific needs and delivering exceptional service.

In many ways our track record speaks for itself; other long-term relationships have included Schutz Australia, Simplot, Leading Textiles, Olympic Polymers, Polar Cold Storage, GKC Food, Colonial Farm, Richdale Plastics, Karras Logistics, Oceania Meats, Air Liquide, Franklins, and Marsh Dairies.
